Rules and regulations
Article 1. Purpose of the SPX Awards
The non-profit organization Shared Patient eXperience (SPX) brings together organizations to promote patient experience and exchange best practices. The SPX Awards 2026 reward initiatives that significantly improve the patient experience.
Article 2. Categories
Applications are open to all healthcare sectors, public and private. SPX reserves the right to redirect an initiative to another category.
The 2026 categories are:
- Improving patient experience in an emergency situation
- Taking into account patient experience in the communication process
- Patient experience as a driver of innovation
Article 3. Eligibility Rules for Applications
- The initiative must be implemented or in an active deployment phase in the year of the Awards.
- The initiative must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Demonstrate that patients’ expectations were identified upstream.
- Involve patients in the co-construction of solutions.
- Include patients in defining the criteria for measuring results.
Article 4. Juries and Selection Procedure
4.1. Composition of the Juries
- The 1st Jury is composed exclusively of SPX members and patients.
- The 2nd Jury, different from the first, is composed of SPX members and external healthcare experts.
4.2. Selection of Finalists and Winners
- Both Juries follow a strict evaluation grid taking into account aspects such as pragmatism, interdisciplinarity, openness to cultural change, ease of adoption, and managerial support.
- The decisions of the Juries are final and binding.
- Jury members must observe confidentiality and cannot be involved in a participating project.
- For all categories, the selection process is as follows:
- The 1st Jury selects 4 candidates per category: 12 finalists.
- The 2nd Jury selects one winner per category: 3 winners.
- Public Vote: 1 winner.
- “Public Vote.” The finalists’ videos are shared on social media for a defined period, allowing the public to vote. Among the non-winning finalists, the initiative with the highest number of votes receives the “Public Vote” award.
Only one vote per person is allowed (validated by email address), and SPX reserves the right to exclude a finalist in case of fraud.
4.3. Special Note
An organization may submit multiple different initiatives but can only win one award per year.
Article 5. Prizes and Recognition
5.1. Winners
- Personalized trophy.
- Speaker at an SPX Talk.
- Featured on the SPX HUB page of the SPX website.
- Featured in the “SPX Awards Guide.”
- Institutions already members of SPX: 50% reduction on 2027 institutional membership.
- Non-member healthcare institutions:
- If the institution wishes to become an SPX institutional member: free membership for the current year (2026) + 50% reduction on 2027 membership.
- If the institution does not wish to become a member: 50% reduction for up to 4 registrations at the SPX International Colloquium 2026. For additional registrations, a 15% reduction will apply.
- Other organizations: 50% reduction for up to 4 registrations at the SPX International Colloquium 2026. For additional registrations, a 15% reduction will apply.
- Broad communication via social media and SPX activities.
5.2. Finalists
- Featured on the SPX HUB page of the SPX website.
- Featured in the “SPX Awards Guide.”
- Institutions already members of SPX: 20% reduction on 2027 institutional membership.
- Non-member healthcare institutions:
- If the institution wishes to become an SPX institutional member: free membership for the current year (2026) + 20% reduction on 2027 membership.
- If the institution does not wish to become a member: 50% reduction for up to 2 registrations at the SPX International Colloquium 2026. For additional registrations, a 15% reduction will apply.
- Other organizations: 50% reduction for up to 2 registrations at the 2026 SPX International Colloquium 2026. For additional registrations, a 15% reduction will apply.
- Broad communication via social media and SPX activities.
Article 6. Obligations of Finalists
- Submit a video of maximum 1 minute in French with English subtitles, or in English with French subtitles. The full subtitle text must be provided to SPX following the instructions sent by email to finalists.
- Authorize SPX to broadcast the video.
- Obtain consent from individuals appearing in the video.
- Participate in the award ceremony in person, or send a 3-minute video.
- Answer media questions.
- Promote their initiative in their networks.
- Share best practices from their project.
Article 7. Timeline
- 15/12/2025: Deadline for submission of applications on SPX.
- 21/01/2026: Meeting of the preselection jury
- Between 26/01/2026 and 30/01/2026: Announcement of shortlisted applications.
- 04/03/2026: Deadline for video submissions.
- 16/04/2026: Announcement of winners at the SPX Awards Ceremony.
Article 9. Management of Personal Data
Personal data are processed in accordance with data protection laws. Participants have the right of access, rectification, and objection.
Contact [email protected] to exercise these rights. Data are protected, but transmission over the internet involves risks. Photos will be taken during the ceremony; please inform SPX if you do not wish to be photographed.
Article 10. Acceptance of the Regulations
Participation in the SPX Awards implies acceptance of these regulations. Jury decisions are final. SPX declines all responsibility in the event of disputes related to intellectual property rights.
