A positive patient and family experience is the essential foundation for lasting professional well-being. By involving patients and their loved ones more closely in their care, healthcare professionals find greater meaning in their work. Well-being becomes a shared outcome, where the satisfaction of one contributes to the fulfilment of the other.

For healthcare professionals, improving efficiency means delivering better care by relying on invaluable partners: patients and their families. By actively engaging patients and recognising the crucial role of those close to them, organisations can optimise both human and material resources while enhancing the experience of everyone involved. This is not only a patient-centred and compassionate approach; it is also a major strategic lever for delivering more appropriate care and making better use of available resources.

Engaging patients and their families means moving from a model of “caring for” to one of “caring with.” This transformation enhances the patient experience, improves the safety and continuity of the care journey, and ultimately supports healthcare professionals’ well-being by making care processes smoother, more collaborative, and more effective.

Applicants are invited to present a project or initiative that actively involves patients and their families, and to describe the impact of this involvement on healthcare professionals. At a minimum, submissions should demonstrate the human impact (such as increased meaning in daily work, improved relationships, and enhanced well-being in the workplace), and ideally also highlight improvements in organisational efficiency. Any evidence supporting these outcomes—including testimonials, activity data, or staff satisfaction indicators—will be taken into account by the jury.

• Community health and social care organisations (including home care services, nursing homes, primary care practices, patient organisations, disability services, and related organisations)
