SPX Talks: Type 1 Diabetes Early Detection and Management Program for First-Degree Relatives

Watch the replay of the SPX Talk in Spanish from June 10, 2026, with Dr. Carme Rulló from Hospital Sant Pau, who presented the hospital’s early detection and management program for Type 1 diabetes in first-degree relatives of patients living with the condition. The session was moderated by Patricia Ripoll.

During the presentation, Dr. Rulló explained how the program aims to identify Type 1 diabetes at an early stage through the screening of high-risk family members. The initiative combines clinical expertise, operational coordination, and digital tools to facilitate participant recruitment, appointment management, follow-up, and communication.

A key aspect of the project is its focus on the participant experience. Hospital Sant Pau has implemented a structured process that minimizes unnecessary visits, provides timely communication of results, and ensures coordinated follow-up when positive findings are identified.

The hospital has also introduced experience and quality indicators, including an NPS-based survey, to better understand how participants perceive the screening process and identify opportunities for improvement. The main message of the session was clear: combining clinical innovation with user experience measurement can help create more effective, person-centered screening programs and support continuous improvement.
