SPX Talks: Rethinking Home Care with the SiSS Manresa Integrated Model
Watch the replay of our SPX Talk in Spanish on 14 May 2025 featuring Montse Soler Sellarès from Fundación Althaia Xarxa Asistencial Universitaria de Manresa and Cristina Bustillo from Fundación TIC Salut Social. They presented the winning initiative of the SPX European Awards 2025 in the Innovation category: Servicios Integrados de Salud y Social (SiSS) Manresa. The session was moderated by Mònica Zapata.
The project is a person-centered integrated home care model, combining health, social services, and technology to improve quality of life in an aging region like Central Catalonia. The model promotes autonomy, continuity of care, and co-creation among patients, caregivers, and professionals.
Dr. Montse Soler Sellarès is Head of Citizen Care and Patient Experience at Fundación Althaia Xarxa Universitaria Asistencial de Manresa, and Associate Professor at UVic-UCC. She holds a degree in Nursing from the University of Barcelona (UB) and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Girona. She was awarded a PERIS scholarship (SLT002/16/00244) to support health professionals, focusing her work on patient safety. She is also a member of the Ethics Committee on Drug Research at the Research and Innovation Institute in Life and Health Sciences of Central Catalonia (CEIm IRIS-CC).
Dr. Cristina Bustillo holds degrees in Clinical Psychology and Anthropology (UB), a Master’s in Audiovisual Communication (UPF), and a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering (URL), with a thesis on her patented tool, the Emoscopio (2005) — a digital solution for applying emotional indicators in design processes. She has led innovation, digital transformation, and strategic design projects throughout her career. Over 20 years ago, she founded Spain’s first Usability and User Experience Lab at the Technova Innovation Park. A decade ago, she launched Spain’s first Patient Experience department in a hospital, at HSJD in Barcelona. Today, at the Fundación TIC Salut Social, under the Government of Catalonia, she works on digital transformation projects for Integrated Health and Social Care.
