SPX European Awards 2025 Ceremony: patient experience at the heart of innovation in healthcare
Organised for the fifth year running by the European Shared Patient Experience association, the SPX European Awards 2025 ceremony was a great success at the Groupe Santé CHC’s MontLégia clinic in Liège. The event brought together almost 150 participants to celebrate the most inspiring patient experience initiatives across Europe.
Rewarding excellence in patient experience
The SPX European Awards aim to recognise projects that significantly improve the patient experience within healthcare facilities. This year, entries were open to all healthcare sectors, both public and private, in three main categories:
- The patient experience, a source of innovation
- Improving the patient experience in an emergency situation
- Taking into account the patient experience in communication
The 2025 winners
Emergency category: Hôpital Foch (France) was awarded the prize for FollowMe, an application that keeps patients and their families informed in real time about the progress of care in the emergency department.
Innovation category: Althaia Xarxa Assistencial Universitària de Manresa (Spain) was awarded a prize for the SISS Manresa model, a person-centred approach that promotes patient autonomy, co-decision and active participation.
Communication category: The Centre Henri Becquerel (France) was singled out for its Ambulatory Surgery Passport, co-constructed by a team of caregivers, patients and illustrator, to improve the safety of patients returning home and make medical information easier to understand.
Public Vote Award: The Institut Godinot (France) won over the public with ‘Health and Theatre’, an artistic project bringing together patients and actresses in a play co-written from life stories, a genuine tool for recognition and transformation.

An academic event under the banner of innovation
The ceremony was preceded by an academic event bringing together healthcare professionals, experts and patients on the theme of “Innovating clinical pathways through patient experience“.
Highlights included:
- Presentations on “Clinical pathways and PREMs” by Ms So Yung Straga (SPX), followed by “Clinical pathways and patient integration within the HUG” by Ms Sandrine Jonniaux, Ms Astrid Huchet and Ms Céline Beuchat.

SPX Hub: a platform for perpetuating best practice
This year’s event also saw the launch of the SPX Hub, a digital platform dedicated to the initiatives that have won awards in previous years. The 2025 winners and finalists will shortly be added to this library of inspiring initiatives with an international reach.
